That happened to me doing 50mph in a 51 Chevy. I was lucky the truck pulled to the right and went off in a flat area. I didn't apply the brakes, just rode it out. That's why the "SMART" man does not go beyond 40mph in these trucks. The steering components are not cast as one peice, you have the cast arm and a ball that are pressed together. Depending on wear, the ball can loosen or break. You were lucky man.
