Did similar process on WDX over 20 years ago. I think flat or low gloss is way to go. I prefer 'unrestored' look and have taken the preservation approach. Usually interior work, interior painting, wheels, mech work, removing 'junk' yet preserving character. Much less $$$ and you have something more unique. You can spread efforts over more projects. It allows a legal cult I call Projectmany.
