I'd damn sure rather deal with a Bendix and an unloader than a York with the electric clutch, and I've done several Yorks.

The York has a known problem of pumping its oil out and breaking rods. The so called solution to that problem is way short of a solution in my book.

The old standard was Bendix 7¼ with an 8" pulley. Bendix used to offer complete mounting kits, the one I have on my 66 Chevy included an exhaust manifold with additional bosses for the compressor mount. I put it on in66 and it still runs fine.

Bendix is a cast iron compressor and you can run alcohol through it in freezing temperatures unlike the York.

There is a drawback to the Bendix, starting a damn cold engine with a Bendix and no air in the receiver takes some extra battery and starter power because you're cranking the compressor too. It's easy enough to overcome with a quarter turn valve. I did that on all the Bendix units I mounted on Lincoln SA 200 welders.

Yorks probably spin with less horsepower, but they are giving you less compressed air as well. It may be a less costly install to use a York, until you calculate the cost of the replacement compressor you'll need in 20k miles.

Then again, what do I know, I'm mounting an air compressor on a 1968 Ford garden tractor and using a pressure switch to turn the electric PTO clutch on the engine on and off.
Just to save somebody from asking WHY; Because I can and because I own air powered tree trimmers. Besides, it'll be handy as hell inflating tires and other places around the farm, AND it'll give people another reason to say I'm nuts.
