I was thinking more about that today. Maybe me only used the horses and dump rake in the fields that were seeded down with a fresh crop of hay seed, as it would already be 6 or 8" high. Probably the side delivery rake would give it quite a beating.
It's to late to ask dad, I am only 65, I will have to ask my 72 year old brother, as he is still running the farm. (Better him than me.)
