We both work better under pressure.
The only difference in design so far as I am concerned is having the modern pump with the modern unitized cartridge. Rather than the old style with the bronze bushing, zerk fitting, and yarn packing. But I doubt that 4-7 psi would do the old ones any harm either.
And for those who have doubts that the design of a honeycomb radiator makes a difference, haven't you ever seen a modern heater core? They are still honeycombs, and handle 15 psi caps for 100,000 miles.
So I run a pressure cap on my '53s.
