When I was Chief of Department, I equipped all our apparatus with the Streamlight #45111, Liteboxs. Its rechargeable on both 12 volts and 120 volts ac. Its very bright and dependable.

I have had very poor results with LED flashlights. Three times, I have bought a 3 d cell flashlight with the Cree Inc super bright LED. It is bright but dont drop it on a hard surface while its turned on. I dropped mine and they would not light again.
On these 3 occasions none of the companies could not or would not sell me a new LED....period. Their response, we dont stock them as they never go bad.
I 'think' its something with the heat on the die at the wire bonds that break under high impasct.
