What about the little chevy 6.2 controller Marty? If my memory is right it was about the size of 2 C batteries stacked on each other and screwed into the water jacket of the engine. I had to jump it manually until I could afford to buy a new one back in the day (they were stupid expensive then) and it melted the first jumper wire I used so your manual idea would have to be heavy duty to take the current.
