Oil swells plug wires. Oil from the coil will too.
Maybe coils are only half filled?
I think one of the tune up men I worked with got a commission on parts. He would sell a new coil if the lead was oily on the end.
But I fersure remember coils labeled 'oil filled'. And some laid down ones having an oil/dirty build up on the low side, near the plastic cap.
And lots of flat head Dodges have the hot end down.
So YMMV.
