The biggest problem with them is turning radius. At least around here where all we have are narrow mountain roads on steep hillsides, once you head up, you're committed to either going all the way through or backing a long way down. When you find logs across the road, you can get out in the snow and cut them out, but it's no fun. But if the road's drifted over too steep to safely cross, you have no choice but to back all the way down. A skid-steer, especially with independently-reversible tracks, would be way better in that regard. I have not measured the turning radius, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's 50 feet. Plus, it takes some distance of travel to get the pontoons fully turned. They have power steering, but it's nowhere near powerful enough to pivot the pontoon/axle assembly while the vehicle is standing in one place.
