One thing to remember is that you will make it a LOT easier on yourself if your metal is completely clean where you want to weld it up. It's probably the biggest culprit of people having a hard time welding, as the impurities cause all kinds of problems.
I see you cab is clean but make sure the patches are as well. I go overboard as I like it clean past the heat zone so things don't melt into the area. Side benefit is you don't have the burnt paint fumes. Use a copper backer too if you aren't already for those gap welds you are about to do.
Lots of guys on here can help as I found that when I started with bodywork. NO ONE should feel uneasy about asking questions. I for one will help and not tell you to read the manual. That's what this forum is best at to me, helping each other through the process.
