Yep, wheel cylinders last about 10 years, then need replacing. Corrosion, sludge and varnish do cause those pistons to stick and the wear of the shoe allows corrosion out in the cylinder resulting in deep pits. Can't rebuild them because of it. The supplier that sells the shoes also sells the USA made cylinders that are sealed in plastic bags so they have long self life. Buy yourself spare parts so you have them when you need them.
