A thin sheet of metal with air on both sides is remarkably good at blocking radiant heat. Think of the sheets they put under or behind a wood stove on 1" standoffs. If the metal is shiny it's even better. If painted, gloss white is better than flat black. Obviously additional insulation would theoretically have some benefit, but it's more likely that the simple reflective shield has already cut that source of vapor-locking heat down sufficiently, and any remaining problem is from heat radiating onto unshielded sections of fuel line or inline filters, or radiating or conducting directly into the carburetor.
