that was the smallest one they made for years. all the cars had it. buicks and cadillacs had even bigger drop outs. cars back then were the weieght of 3/4 ton trucks. big brakes, big frames, big diffs. I dont know if they bolt up the same but most likley. 8 3/4 is not htat heavy duty that is why the WC 4x4s jumped up to the 9 5/8 for the strength.
