I get tired of all their slick promotions. They're always sending letters telling me that if I don't send them money right now, the government will take our guns away, and also offering some "free gift" (used to be a range bag, probably also made in China) in return for my "donation". If I'm going to donate to some worthy cause, I want them to use 100% of the money to advance that cause, not to send out mass mailings full of inflammatory hype, and pay for cheesy "free gifts".
The NRA is okay, mostly because they have a lot of members and they get in the news a lot, but they also have a history of "compromising" over "common sense" gun restrictions like the 1934 NFA and 1968 GCA. If you want to support a more determined gun rights organization, check out the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. They're hard-core.
