1800 RPM? Is that engine or alternator RPM? 1600 RPM on an alternator is a fairly common rating, so you shouldn't have any problem.
1600 engine RPM? You would have more than enough to develop rated capacity. A small alternator would be around 45-50 amps.
The main reason for going to an alternator is they produce electricity at lower RPM than generators.
Even then, I can see the generator kick in on my FFPW at less than 1800 engine RPM.
