Power Wagons in Asia and the Gulf

I am making a trip to the Gulf and various Asian countrys. I am curious as to wether or not anyone knows of some areas were power wagons were once prevelant. I did fly over one island were there several 6x6 and weapons carriers were parked. They were severely rusted. I believe them to be WWII era trucks. The Island was rather remote. I know we gave thousands of these trucks to several different countries.
