Now that's interesting!
The ISB 3.9 puts out up to 440 ft-lb. As a Cummins sales pointed out to me last week, the big problem with the ISB is wiring/electronics. However, I suppose there's a remote but nonzero probability that an ISB 3.9 would "plug into" an ISB 5.9's wiring harness. But it would be kind of tragic and wasteful to buy a complete 2000/2001 Dodge/Cummins ISB 5.9 chassis (with NV5600 of course!) and then discard the 5.9 just because it's too long, unless you have a buyer already lined up.
The front Dana 60 of the Rams has a defect: the front hubs are missing, and some sort of Rube Goldberg "ESOF" (electronic shift-on-fly) mechanism. The rear Dana 70/80 is OK of course. But 3.54 or even 4.10s are too tall for the 0.73 top gear of the 5600 with 36" or taller tires. With 36s and 4.10s rpms are 1725 at 60 mph. The ISB 4 might pull that; the 6 definitely would; but it would be close. 4.56 would be better.
Interesting concept. Though I wouldn't necessarily consider the stock axles in the old PW chassis worthless even with 440 ft-lb. They don't break in direct or overdrive, they break when in the lowest gears.
