I sounds to me like you would be better off to retain the original frame and add a modern engine, transmission, possibly transfer case, disk brakes, power steering and other modifications. This would avoid many complications and in my opinion lead to a cleaner final appearance. Powerwagons have been the foundation for many a custom truck, but I think that they turn out much better when the original appearance is maintained. Eliminating the use of another donor truck would help keep your cost down.
