If you remove the cowl light to clean and repair them, remember that there is a right and a left. There is a small "L" or "R" stamped into the base of the light on the inside. If you get them put on your truck reversed or use a "spare" from a parts truck, it can look strange. Look at inside of base to get proper "hand" light in its respective place. As the other fellows said a ground wire to the lamp socket works wonders.
