I have a 1951 B3PW / M 615. It is an Ambulance built largely for export. However mine was used in Navy state side duty. It has the fuel tank you refer to. It uses the standard cross members in the frame that were utilized with the small tank. It has three retaining bands around it - two in the original positions as used with the small tank and then one more the same distance in from the right end as the left. I had the tank out once to clean it. While I had it out I put it end to end with a small stock tank. Height and width were the same - it just runs the full width of the frame. It used the standard fuel gauge sending unit. My gauge was always very acurate. It's been several years since I've had the unit running (threw a rod) but as I recall the tank capacity was around 35 gallons - a great help with the high fuel economy!
