I borrowed a slide hammer to remove the bronze bushings from the front axle of my ’49 B1. I figured I’d try the “hub side” first; sat the hub on my bench and 5 minutes later out came the bushing. Feeling VERY cocky from that experience I went to do the axle housing bushing; 3 days later the bushing is still in the axle housing and I’m getting frustrated. It seems to have moved a little (~1/4”) but is now stuck.
I'm thinking of "sectioning" the bushing with a hacksaw blade and driving it out with a chisel but I'm a little concerned about metal shavings getting into the 3rd member. Anyone have a quick fix?
Thanks!
