I did as Chris suggested and there was no discernible change in the noise.
Coincidentally, I just came in from the shop where I used a stethoscope with a probe as Kaegi suggested. I can hear one or two tappets that are noisy. I'm not sure the noise is not being transmitted through the block. But, I checked the valve lash and even adjusted them tighter than spec. No change in the clicking.
I moved the stethoscope around the engine, including the fuel pump and wasn't able to find a source of the clicking other than the tappets.
I think I will do as Dave suggests and just drive it.
