Beg to differ Randy, a wrist pin knock is one of those heavy knocks also, pull the plug wire and it will stop like a rod, but the only time it knocks is when that cylinder fires. a rod will knock with the plug wire off if you rev the motor up. I have always thought the chatter in my motor was a crack in a piston(skirt) a big crack will knock also but is a slightly different sound. main bearing is a very heavy knock that will show up if you hold the motor up at about 2500rpm.
