Door lock and link assembly

Has anybody taken apart their Door lock and link assembly? Both my springs broke on my left(Drivers)side. My Master parts book shows both springs as being available back then (1943). I know you have to bend the retaining tabs up but what about the rivet or whatever it is that the latch pivots on. This rivet or whatever it is also helps hold the 2 pieces of the latch mechanisim together. Any Ideas out there? Thanks
