4.88 spicer 70 is 8 to 39 and the 5.87 is probably 6 to something. I have never had a bad ring and pinion in a 9 5/8. I have seen one once. And seen a couple on here, but I have seen many bad Spicer 70 pinion shafts and bearings. But I have owned way more WCs and PWs than trucks with spicer 70.
