I have seen this truck previously for sale on ebay as well, same pictures and dramatic description but a lower price.
As far as airbrake parts, OH yes they have changed drastically since the 40's you can't even buy those parts new anymore. IIRC they would not be DOT legal as a road worthy brake setup because they do not have any backup emergency brake system. You would be required to upgrade to a spring apply system as a minimum. On the Sterling's current system if you lost air pressure for any reason you loose all ability to apply the brakes, service, parking, or otherwise.
