Here in Calfornia, I have to take my trucks to the DMV to get the number verfied. They do read the frame number, and on the form is a spot for "some other place?". So for that they read the tag on the door jam.

Which reminds me, I need one blank door jamb tag for a '53. And all the others for TWO trucks.
