Looks like a Pirsch Junior aerial (65 ft ladder). Pirsch used a lot of Continental engines, and was an early proponent of diesel-powered fire apparatus.
Those wood ground ladders are worth a fortune to the right collector. There are shops that restore them, and San Francisco Fire Dept. still manufactures their own wood ladders in house.
On another note, I'd keep an eye on that character standing next to the apparatus - he looks mighty suspicious...
