I installed a Maxbrake unit.
It is a true proportional trailer brake, as I understand it. It has a sensor plumbed into the brake line coming off the master, so the amount of braking applied to the trailer directly matches how hard you step on the brakes.
Very nice feel, better than the older technology pendulum type controllers I have used in the past.
