Maybe it is because I have been driving the truck since 1980, but on my 47 WDX, I can tell within about 1-mile down the road if I have forgotten to unlock my hubs. All bearings and U-joints are good. Driveshaft is phased properly. And all driveshafts are balanced.
I would not say that there is any noticeable increase in vibration or noise when driving with the hubs locked in. It is just an overall feeling through the steering wheel, the seat, and throughout the cab of the truck. Its just different. I know it immediately once I get to about 50 mph.
