Good point. Nothing covers up a multitude of stickiness issues in the throttle linkage like putting a stiffer spring on it. I've done that on most of my old trucks. It's right in the same league of "band-aid" mechanics as turning up the idle speed to "solve" stalling and rough idling problems. It works, though.
