1970 vin number

hi: i have a 1970 3/4 ton 4x4 sweptline. it has a vin beginning with "D2". a friend i know tells me that this is not a factory 4x4 as it would have a "W2" in the beginning of the vin. i have looked at this truck very closely. if it is a conversion, its the best i have seen. my friend says all dodge 4x4 of that vintage were power wagons. i maintain that a regular sweptling could have a 4x4 option and not be a power wagon. help! thanks.
