Yep, you are telling me exactly what I don't want to hear. I know you're right, but......
I went back to the shop and used air to hold the valve down while I lifted the spring with a spring compressor. As I suspected, there is only one side of the keeper.
Did you ever come up with a theory as to how the keeper came out on your truck? Wear? Incorrect installation? Over revving?
