If Dodge was using a WWII 1/2 ton front axle set up on these trucks, the 3rd member would be a 2 pinion 8&3/4" unit, not a 4 pinion 8&3/4" unit as found on the WWII WC 3/4 trucks from serial#'s 81589501 through 81657581 and Serial#'s 81674101 through 81674747 and all 1 ton postwar Dodge civi 4x2 and 4x4 trucks through 1959 and also 3/4 ton trucks from 1957-59. The 2 pinion and 4 pinion units use different side gears. Unlike the 1/2ton WC trucks, the third members would not be interchangeable on a truck such as this.
