As mac said, best depends on what you want the truck to do and how you want it to look.
If you are patient and look around you can probably put some used 8-lug axles under the truck cheaper than rebuilding the stock ones. You also get better/cheaper parts availability and more aftermarket support, and potentially more strength if you want/need it. Plus easier selection of wheels and gear ratios.
You loose the Budd rim look, which is distinctive, even with aftermarket rims, and you'd have to convert the transfer case to run a centered rear axle and figure out your steering linkage for the front. As well as the right parts to mate the driveshafts between old and new.
