Pull the rear shafts and give them a good inspection before you go to be sure you are starting with a clean axle.
With my V-8 I'm sure I would have spun the tires at the end if I'd been in 1st, but the ride down the track was a blast in 2nd. I was shocked that I did slip the clutch some, perhaps my little 318 has more power than I thought, or at least more than my little '68 clutch can handle.
I swapped out a broken axle one and had to pull the center section to remove the end, and did it in 30 min., but was outside on concrete with a floor jack when I did it.
