Got a note tonight from Tim Hogan, who I met at the Vermont Rally.
Tim found a replacement gas tank and wanted to share the info:
I pulled the fuel tank off my '48 I'm rebuilding to find pinholes/rot. Seeing the prices of "gas tank renew" coating I went online. Turns out Spectra fuel tanks makes a 15 gallon tank part # JP3B, that looks the same, only 5 gal. smaller. Sender unit that will fit the tank is an OMIX-ADA part# 17724.07. Fuel tank straps are avail but I made my own to fit the Power Wagon. I figure with a jerry can I'll be back up to 20 gal capacity. Here's the best part- $125 for the new tank, $22 for the sender unit thru Rock auto. I have not done the wiring yet but how hard can it be- sender has the resistor in it. I have enclosed pics of the tank installed and two shots of the truck so far. Hopes this helps. Tim.
