I can't remember the specifics, but a couple years ago somebody here posted a story of an ECN in the Dodge factory in the '50s that involved the use of a cutting torch on the assembly line. I can't remember what the purpose was, except it was to cut a bit of out of something (frame?) to make something else fit.
