You could use urethane , which is what many new windows are installed with .
I have used silicone (which is considered a no no ) to ease removal at a later date the bottom of the groove is coated with a release agent , vaseline or grease will work for this but only the bottom of the groove gets a thin coat of the release agent .
So there you go three choices , urethane / silicone will help seal the window a tad better than the setting tape .
