I don't have any bears around me but I do have a problem with some kind of animal chewing on my plastic gas containers.They seem to prefer the flexible spouts but have ruined a couple of 5 gal. containers by chewing on the threaded
top or handles.I have woods behind my house with foxes,racoons,and groundhogs.Don't know witch one it is but they must like gasoline.
