A friend worked for Dana. He once told me that drop center frames are make from a 10" wide piece of strap, 16 feet long. It gets put into a press on edge, and the drop center bent in- edgewise. Next it gets laid on it's side, in a box die that shape, and the flat piece of ribbon bent into a channel. Them is a couple pounds of pressure we're talking there.
