With this information in mind, it makes me think we should just go ahead and use some new or NOS bolts for this application when performing differential work that requires replacement of these bolts.
The previous arguments I've heard have been that the stock bolts are low grade, but based on the hardness data I mentioned, this seems not to be the case.
