I've got some red Poly rod coming to make a couple sets of body mounts. It's 60A durometer, softer than the usual aftermarket poly body mounts sold. About as hard as tire tread.
So I can make them custom height to keep cab from transmitting vibes from chassis. So I slid under the assembled truck to get an idea. I see that what I did was put a thick one, plus 3/8 shim on top in front, and the thin one on top in the back.
My trucks are both '53 frames, front mounts are level, rear mounts about 1/4" lower than frame.
What is the factory method? I would think thick all over, just as much squish on top as on bottom, to allow for twisting, but I know the factory used thick and thin at each position. So, thick on top everywhere? Or ???
