But due to poor engine design of flat heads, hp peaks at low speed. Though my improvements did move the peak higher, from 2700 to 3100.

So I'm looking at a 20% improvement at freeway speed. Seat of the pants had already told me so. And a very important improvement in 3rd on hills, no more dropping to second needed. And a synchro tranny might allow a fast enough shift to get on the power band going into 4th?
