Any good locksmith should be able to pull apart your ignition and make a new key. You can of course bypass the switch and just wire it up directly, but you'll need a key eventually so just get that done now. Typically the ignition switch key matches the door lock so getting one key made will take care of both your locks (get spare keys just in case). Just mark the wires with tape and pull the switch. If it is a correct 1955 6V switch there is a screw under the dash holding it in place. Just remove the screw and push the switch back into the dash. It comes out from behind.
