know what gears are in the third member, its always good to check.
If the axle housings were mounted on a PW with wheels on its, its a little easier. Here is the method.
With transmission/T Case in Netural, jack up one rear or front tire/wheel. Make a chalk mark on the wheel/tire at 6 O clock position.
Mark the drive shaft with chalk. Now, turn the tire/wheel with the chalk mark EXACTLY two turn while also counting the revolutions of the drive shaft. If you get a little under 5 turns, you have 4.89's. If your a little short of 6 turns, you have 5.83's.
In your case with a unmounted axle, somewhow restrain one wheel/hub from turning. Then follow the above counting the turns of the pinion yoke.
