I suppose a 2nd gen would have better aerodynamics. The best thing you can do for aerodynamics is slow down. The resistive force grows exponentially with speed.
A 24 valve should breath better. I don't know which fuel injection (mechanical or electronic) would be better?
Staring in 07 the emissions equipment rob some fuel mileage potential in order to achieve cleaner exhaust.
