Cutting to length is easy enough. Then simply install the shorter 'cartridge'. Its a unit of bearing, seal, and shaft. It's how water pumps are rebuilt. Simply press into housing, press impeller on the one end, and the drive flange on the other.
Hmm, I wonder if you could find a cartridge catalog, then buy a wrong pump that has the rigth cartridge, and do all the work your self?
