I hear what you're saying, but there wasn't any rust scale inside the head when I removed the housing. Actually, all the scale was collected by the thermostat and came out with it.
I'm not by any means saying this will turn out well for me, but I'm this far and will at least see if I can break it loose. I'm not in a position to pull the motor right now anyway.
