When his car was required to go through DEQ inspections (Dept of Environmental Quality), he panicked because there was not way it was going to pass with the blower, etc.
So he got an identical car and would swap plates. Had a replacement VIN plate made identical to the race car.
Whenever registration was needed, he'd go get the mandatory DEQ certificate using his clone car, which otherwise was stored in a barn, after he swapped license plates.
Worked like a charm. To add insult, he put a "My Car Passed DEQ" bumper sticker on the race car.
